I think most of you knew about this before I did.
Bryan had been planning this for months. Being a logistics manager, he had coordinated the ring, the venue (Avaya Stadium), the kids and even the secrecy around the whole thing. I had NO IDEA what was about to go down...
Going to see live Major League Soccer (MLS) games has been our jam since the beginning. That and being in a relationship with Bryan also means you instantly become a San Jose Earthquakes fan (no exceptions, haha. I really am a fan). I was really excited when Bryan scored "free" tickets to a game. He told me that in order to get the free tickets we had to take a tour of the stadium as if we were interested in potentially purchasing season tickets. WEB OF LIES!
We drove down to the stadium early with the kids in tow. Toward the end of the tour the sales guy invited us to walk up the players tunnel and check out the field. At that point, I think my geek was showing. He told us we had to stay off the pitch because of the game later that evening, but offered to take pictures of us on the sideline with the jumbo tron in the background. He immediately tried to get just Bryan and I to take a picture together and I wasn't having it. I started to get frustrated because Marshall and Summer were with us and I really wanted them in the picture too. As soon as he finished taking the picture, Bryan bends down.
At this point, I've started to step away to follow behind the kids. Bryan grabs me and I'm totally distracted. I started to ask him, "what are you doing?!" He started his speech and everything started spinning. It was the most scheming, well-planned and romantic things he has ever done.
Clearly, you wouldn't be reading this if I had said no. The picture above is another over-achieving moment later that evening. Bryan had the proposal put on the jumbo tron during the 27th minute of the game. I don't remember if the Quakes won that night (if you need to know I'm sure Bryan remembers), but I do know that I was the happiest person in the stadium that night. |
